41 Remington Rimfire

Has anyone reloaded for the 41 Remington derringer? Am looking at picking up an about 1910 made version of the Remington 95 and although I don't plan on shooting much and will see if I can scrounge a few already loaded rounds for the pistol, I'd like to have the ability to make up a box or two on my own.

I see a company out of France has a set up that uses crimped 22 blanks and special brass cases. Anyone use?

Saw that. Looks promising. I think I can skip the reloading "tool" and use my regular stuff with their brass and bullets. Tool looks alot like a Lee prototype that didn't quite make it. Makes me wonder if a Lee hand loader could be used instead.

Guess I'm not the only one with the slow connecting.

Talked to one that's been using the .32RF kit for his Stevens Rifle, he said he was using starter gun blanks. He tried a nail gun gun blank, didn't elaborate, but warned against trying that.
I doubt Lee makes a .41RF sizer, said his sizer works as advertised.

Well what the heck - bought the gun. Functions fine and in great shape overall.



Ordered the "reloadable" rimfire ammo from company in France. My gut tells me I could have done it with my single stage and dies (finding a 41 diameter that short was a sticking point) and roundball lead but, figured I'd give it a try.

My understanding is the "serial number" is actually a batch number and this one is 728. If anyone knows an about DOM would be nice to know.

normally the Remington name is used to date these.
Pre 1888 - Remington & Sons
1888 - 1910 - Remington Arms Co
1911 and on - Remington Arms UMC
Batch numbers were phased out and replace with serial numbers in the early 1920s.

Not only did the Name change, but also it is possible to better date these based on the font used.

I have left out several very rare variations.

As far as using nail driver blanks, there are different loads based on color. The two lowest loads are grey and brown. However, they are very hard to find at local home improvement stores. I dont know what load your friend used but the yellow or green loads would be too hot.

Thank you for the information. Top of the barrel reads "Remington Arms Co. Ilion. N.Y." in upper case. Pretty good condition for +113 yrs old.
