Which one would you choose and why?

For a 22 that looks like an ar I would buy a conversion kit.

The vector uzi clone in 22lr would be cool to.

buy whichever one is cheaper. or in stock. i have both and am thrilled with both. great guns. both eat the cheap bulk ammo like candy and are very accurate. a dedicated ar may be "better" in some peoples opinion but i would rather just have 2 guns that are 99% as good for the price of 1 dedicated ar.

The Colt m4 are made by Carl Walther in Germany too! I would say the Colt because I like the feel of the materials better. + it is a COLT.

I like my GSG because I like having a little variety in my gun safe. The colt is a fine, fun rifle but it's just like my AR. I feel comfortable enough with my guns that I don't need that consistancy to remain proficient. Plus the MP-5 clone with the collapsable stock is just too fun to shoot. I love it.

I say the GSG mostly because i have one waiting the 10 day jail,I have a dedicated 22 AR i like it very much would not give it up ,it accurate ,and extremely reliable .

There is something about that colt i don't care for ,but i can't put my finger on what that is .

I think the dedicated AR 22 is money well spent!

I can't have a real H&K MP5 nor can I afford an offlist mp5 clone, so the next best thing would be a GSG5 mp5 22lr clone.

I have an AR and I don't need to clone it with a 22lr version. Even if I wanted an AR22, I would get a ceiner 22lr bolt kit for $160. And if I wanted match accuracy, I would get a dedicated 22lr upper.

Plus the 10/40 is butt-ugly on an AR, especially for Californians faking the 40 round funk. We don't need to be posers with a 10/40. The 10/30 is horrible enough to look at knowing it only holds 10.

GSG. No Question. I've handled the "Colt" 22lr and it's junk. It's made of pot metal and pics of cracked lowers are showing up online. Customer service is poor and any alterations will void the warranty (ie. taking off the flash hider).

I've owned a GSG and I can vouch that it's well made. It's not an MP5, but it's one hell of a shooter out of the box. Mine ate all the ammo I could feed it without a hiccup. Very accurate...point of aim was spot on from the factory. The bolt carrier is robust and runs great wet (unlike other 22lrs that are very finicky). Lastly, the customer service is top notch. Cruise over to AR15.com and you'll be able to get quick responses to your questions, concerns, etc. from their head gunsmith.

I don't understand how you say that the colt feels "too plastic" when it is made almost completely of metal...so/so metal...but metal. The GSG is made of plastic. I liked both guns and it was a hard choice for me but I chose the M4 because I thought it felt as solid as the gsg if not more and I liked the aesthetics of it more. I pick my m4 up on sunday and my brother picks up his GSG on monday, so I'll let you know if I made the correct decision in a few days after I shoot and handle both.

don't worry, all this dislike for the Colt AR is just like when the GSG5 first came out.

once its been around for at least a year and if Colt can provide the CS that GSG does, it will be accepted.

comparisons are sometimes silly.
take this one for example. GSG-5 been around way longer than the colt rimfire.
im sure the owner count is well into the thousands vs the hundreds for the colt.

10 - 14 aint that bad for a rifle that hasnt been out that long vs one that has.

This isnt as awesome as the 1911 vs Glock thread though.
