    THE HARTFORD ARMS & EQUIP. CC.

    I have a Hartford Arms 22lr pistol, it needs some help. The firing pin is broken in two, and there are a few 'homemade' parts on it; the magazine release, extractor, the safety lever , and it looks like someone wrenched on it to remove the barrel at some point... It is also chromed...

    It is marked:

    MANFD BY
    THE HARTFORD ARMS & EQUIP. CC.
    HARTFORD, CONN.
    PATENTED
    22 CAL.
    LONG RIFLE

    I have not found a lot of information on this firearm, seems the CO. wasn't around very long;

    "HARTFORD ARMS & EQUIPMENT COMPANY
    Previous manufacturer located in Harford, CT 1925-1932. Established in 1925, this firm was bankrupt when purchased by the High Standard Company in 1932.
    "

    "Hartford Arms made about 5000 of these while in business between 1925 and 1932."

    I tried finding a replacement firing pin awhile back without much luck. Bought a HiStandard Model A or B firing pin from Numerich and it is clearly not the same. A fellow Calgunner has kindly offered to make a new pin for me, but I wanted to get some information on this pistol and any advice on if it is worth trying to make a shooter out of it or not? The HiStandard manual attached looks exactly like this pistol. Numerich did have additional parts for the HiStandard if I recall correctly, so maybe an option to replace the safety level etc.

    Here's some pics:

    Any info, suggestions, thoughts are appreciated. Is there any hope for this pistol?

    Thanks.

    I would write it off as a loss. It is probably not worth much to begin with. Buy a High Standard shooter, Ruger MK II,III, or a Walther.
