Not sure if this helps re the salt stock corrosion issue, hopefully the steps taken will mitigate.
Does skim bedding provide any protection? Also, I've used what I've heard called "helicopter tape" to cover up scratched, damaged area on a few guns - usually aluminum that doesn't take "re-blue" touch up. It's a black aluminum tape, sticks like hell and can be formed around around modest curves. Works really well on a crapped up front strap, for example. Am supposing that if applied to the underside of the barrel up to the stock line, or the other way used to line the stock - might disrupt the travel?
