Colt magazine score

Bought a Colt .22 semi-auto (formerly known as a Cadet before lawsuit threat forced Colt to drop name) from a Calgunner recently. Love the pistol; it's almost boringly accurate. However it just came with one mag and others are scarce and expensive (they also work in 3rd generation Woodsmen) so went to Big Reno Show today for first time with goal of finding more mags. I did and bought two genuine examples in stainless steel. Pricey? Yes, $100 each, which is is standard price when you can find them. But I rationalized that I'll be 80 years old in a couple of months and deserve a nice birthday present. It's worth it not to have to interrupt shooting for mag reload every couple of minutes.

FYI, the Beretta Neos is almost the same pistol, and I have read that the mags will fit the Colt. I suspect they built the Colt pistols as well. I also have one, it is very heavy as well as accurate.

Correct on the NEOS magazines fitting the Woodsman (and Browning Medalist) with minor modifications. There are a few "how to's") on YouTube and they vary from basic to fine.

FWIW, I replace the NEOS floorplate with a Woodsman (repro from Numrich) and dress down the loading button and remove the hump from the plastic follower. The NEOS magazine has a recessed backside which can get caught up on the heel type mag release. Sometimes, depending on how you pull it out. I epoxy a thin strip of aluminum to prevent that, but it's not necessary.

NEOS mags pop in and out and work much better than any of the aftermarket types, and even some of the factory originals.

An OEM Colt Cadet 22 mag sold on eBay today for $62 which was $2 over my ma bid.

I was fortunate enough to buy several OEM mags about ten years ago, I think I paid $15 a piece. Times have changed...

Yes, the Beretta Neos mags do work in the Cadet fine without mods. As a plus they are around $20 each.

The day after I bought two pricey factory mags for my new (to me) Colt .22 (formerly known as a Cadet) I received the Beretta Neos mag I had ordered on the chance that it would work with modifications shown in YouTube video. I was headed to range anyway so I took the Beretta mag and lo and behold it is identical to Colt factory mag except for slightly thicker baseplate. Works just fine as is. Lesson learned. $25 is better than $100
