Keeping in mind that standard velocity ammo is recommended. Any recommendations on standard velocity, 22 LR ammo for a vintage Winchester Mdl 62a rifle ? Thanks in advance, Bill

Uh in opinion, avoid anything Winchester ammo related.. Junk
I would use CCI SV, and I do not even see a problem using CCI Blazers too for cheap plinking.. Mini Mags would probably even be fine.. The 62a was made well after the advent of High Velocity ammo. I am sure it has already had 100s and probably 1000s of rounds of high velocity put through it already.. Now I would avoid any hyper velocity at all.
But if you feel you want to be easy on Her..Stick with CCI SV..Comment

My preferences:
CCI mini mags
CCI Standard (most consistent)
Federal Auto Match
Federal 525 Bulk pack (surprisingly accurate for crappy looking ammo)
Aguila High Velocity
I?ve ran these which functions, but they are really dirty.
Remington Thunderbolt (really waxy)
Winchester bulk pack.
In reality, run what you got. All depends on your accuracy demands and how often to you gotta clean.Comment

IMO the Aguila .22 ammo has got to be the best value as far as quality goes.
I had bought several boxes of Winchester .22 ammo over the years and when I got around to using it I had terrible failure to extracts and cases getting stuck in my Ruger 10/22 that I had to use a rod to knock out of the chamber. So I started looking close at this ammo to try to find out what could be different about it from all the other brands I was using with otherwise good results. Turns out most of the rims on the Winchester were under spec. Some way under spec. No wonder the extractor couldn't grab it reliably. All of the Aguila I measured were very consistent at .278.
YMMV as they say. For me I'm sticking with Aguila, most Federal including CCI.

Your gun will show you what it prefers. Every gun is different. It's up to you to figure out which load it prefers. That means testing a whole lotta different ammo before you can narrow it down to the top contenders.
