My new EBR (Evil Black Rimfire)

Ok, the rifle is not new, or even new to me, and for that matter neither is the subcaliber kit. Kept this kit when I got rid of my HK-91 back in the late 80's. Boy am I glad that the guy who bought my rifle did not want to pay for a sissy 22lr conversion. I bet if he still has the 91, he wishes he had this kit now

Anyhoo, finally got around to trying it out on my HK-41 today at Iron Sights. Shot about 250 flawless rounds from CCI minimags to Remington Thunderbolt, to Winchester Wildcat. Tried the CCI's at the recommendation of the guys on HKPRO. This conversion kit shoots the cheap stuff just as well as the higher price CCI's. I did not try Wally's 550 round bulk stuff as I have thousands of rounds in the 50 packs that dont stack as nice.

My range day would have been an easy $150 in 7.62, but it was under $20 in the 22lr. I guess I need to move my rear sight, although I dont remember having this too the left issue with the 7.62. Maybe I did not get the rear sight locked in the detent.

    Here are the pics...

Don't ask him that! I always figure when people post grouping pics without telling you the distance they shot at it is for a reason and it is impolite to call them on it

Whoa. Sweet setup, all that rifle, for little .22 , if you think about it.

This is why I never sell anything of importance, you never know when you'll need it again.

Out of curiousity, what do you think that kit is worth?

I dont care about the distance question. I said it was at Iron sights, which is 25 yds max. That was where the targets were, as they stay still when buried at the back of the range. Those groups were using the iron sights on the gun, which basically cover the black area of the target due to the large front sight post. Next time I will mount the scope and rest the rifle on a bag to see how accurate the conversion kit is.

This outing was to try the kit for the first time in this rifle, and to see if ammo made any real difference in function of the weapon. Not enough to justify the cost of the minimags IMHO.

              Thanks for the comments

I think the kits bring between $400 and $800 today. This one is made for the 91 as opposed to the G3 kit that takes a slight modification to work properly in a 91 or 41. The really well used surplus ones often have mismatched parts, but usually work fine, as the Germans are known for their precision. Last surplus kit I saw for sale was $500 IIRC. I have heard that the mags can bring $100 ea, but I have never seen any for sale seperate from a kit.

That rifle weighs over 11 lbs with the kit installed and a full mag.

Of course, I should have never sold the 91 to begin with...

Great shooting And I agreed about the Germans precision comment, I see it on my Colt M4 22LR which is manufacture in Walther firearm factory. It's very accurate at the 50yds-75yds.

nice kit, looks just like mine I bought almost all the 91 accesories for mine back in the day. never got around to trying out that 22 kit, there not cheap, i paid $400 back then for unused one. I`ve been meaning too try mine out but i`ve been playing with my other toys in my collection. nice too know that it`s not picky about different types of ammo. thanks for report sold your`e HK91, shame on you! accept no compromise!

I always like how back in the 80's the packaging was top notch, nowadays your lucky to get paper instructions let alone a sweet box.
