I enjoy shooting my GSG 1911 .22 but hate the meat hook back strap and trigger! Has anybody done a swap with mil-spec parts? I have a Springfield mil spec 1911 in .45 and an Auto-Ordnance 1911 in 9mm and haven?t pinched the web of either of my XL sized hands.

GSG 1911 trigger and back strap swap
Tags: None -
I meant to say replacement hammer and back strap. Age related brain f#rt. -
I replaced the mainspring housing from the factory arched version to an aftermarket flat one. Any milspec 1911 parts should be swap easily. Also deleted the series 80 firing pin safety system."1911 mag, twinkie, twinkie, cupcake, primary weapon mag"

Thanks Vinnie land. I also went to the 1911 forum and the GSG parts exchange is extensively discussed. Parts are on the way!Comment

I've been trying to find the barrel stud that fell out on my GSG 1911. GSG service will not import nor special order it. It's been almost two years since I shot it. I call them every few months to check.
Part #4 on their parts list. Anyone have a source for one?Comment

Is that the little pin right behind the slide release. with the mushroom head? I just looked at mine - perhaps a machine shop could make one up for you? Might cost the dame as a new gun, though......Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Shown as #4 on the slide exploded diagram. Seems those guys skipped it on their spare parts list. Yes, it's that mushroom shaped plug. It will fall out if put in the wrong way. Then the mag release won't stop it from falling out.I've lost mine and surprisingly the pistol still works.

The GSG guy says it's very common for those to fall out. Strangely, they never import nor have the most requested part for that gun. I don't blame the US office, it's the Germans that won't ship any here. Very bad customer service.Comment
