cz 457 scout - base, rings, scope?

for later this year, i figure i'd just get a small scope for my kid (vortex, leupold, etc). probably will target sales in nov/dec unless something good comes up.

my understanding is the cz current setup is dove tail. while it is a rimfire .22LR and little recoil, i'm thinking of how best to prevent it from moving. i've not shot my own marlin 795 if i went with just dove tail rings myself (can't find purchases in email).

cz website shows i can purchase and put a rail on top held by 3 or 4 screws, and then go with picatinny rings and scope from there. just wondering how much higher that'll be for my kid. (can't seem to find the thickness of it). oddly i see rails with 10, 15, 30 moa and i'm chuckling here, why on a rimfire. i guess some really use it to go past 100yds (was thinning how accurate that ammo would be).

p.s i did see someone last week next to us (me and my kid) with a fancy nice chronograph (square'ish 1x1 orange colored device) to measure his match grade ammo (didn't ask him what type). seems to be very much into it and statistics measure standard deviation and all. saw something like 1100'ish ft/sec speeds showing on the display.

I looked at two types of scope mounting options for my cz455, which has an 11mm dovetail base like your rifle.

I really like BKL dovetail rings. https://www.bkltech.com/1inch-Scope-...show=36&page=1 Nice design with none of the offset you find on most other rings of that type. Bought some for a 3x16x44 30mm tubed scope, and they work great.

That said, I have a bad habit of moving scopes around a lot, so looked for an easy way to use picatinny or weaver style rings. Didn't want a base, because it adds height plus the set screws could damage the finish on the rifle. Went with a set of Low Pro Snap-in Adaptors https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Cheap and easy to use; just put them between the ring base and the rifle and torque to spec. I've never had a scope move using them, and that includes .22mag and .17hmr rifles.

The 10, 15, 30 moa rails are mainly for people interested in very long range .22lr shots. Sort of a waste for us mortals IMHO.

      Hope this helps

thanks for the tip kenl. i was actually trying to find if there rings where there'd be a hole and a screw to go down into where the rail would mount. looks like this is it.

        thanks!

FWIW I have a few CZ rimfires and use plain old Redfield 3/8" tip off mounts. They fit fine and don't move. BKL has alot of variety and are well made but they seem to me a bit clunky and oversized for the smaller proportioned rimfire rifles.

actually avoiding the base mount. plus won't need anything with a lift. kid won't be shooting farther out then 100yds. appreciate the offer though.
