    Consignment score at local shop

Sometimes you get lucky, not that way you bunch of perverts? I was in a shop that has good rates on transfer fees, picking up a pistol that was released from 10 day lockdown. What did I spot on the consignment rack? A CZ 457 Varmint MTR with a decent looking scope and an Area 419 scope base. The hang tag was turned around so I couldn?t see the price and it was bugging me so I asked the kid behind the counter for the details. These rifles are usually $800 retail and not seen in shops on the shelf normally. My wife has this rifle and she got a smoking deal on hers from a shop in North Dakota while she was living and working there. I liked the feel of the stock so much that I purchased one for my CZ varmint model in 17hmr. Anyway, I have a Savage mark ii TR to fill my 22lr role and that is a great shooter with standard velocity ammo BUT, I never liked the accu-trigger. I did replace the trigger with a rifle basix RAT that improved the feel but, I still don?t like that there is no way to limit the over travel because the trigger also functions as the bolt release. The CZ trigger on my varmint model is better than most of the factory triggers once fully adjusted. Coming back full circle, the price for the MTR was $600 with the Black Hound FFP scope 4-14x50, 15 moa canted Area 419 base, 3 extra 10-round mags and the rest of the contents the rifles come with save for the box. I couldn?t walk out of the store and let that go home with anyone else! The rifle looks new and as soon as I can get to the range I?ll give a report on her abilities compared to my mk2 TR. So keep your eyes open to what makes it on the consignment racks, sometimes there are diamond?s among the duds.
