    need help w/ ruger 10/22

i recently bought a Adams & Bennett barrel for my 10/22 and am now having ejection problems. I had a FTE with the stock barrel. it would jam maybe 1 out of every 5 mags now with the new barrel it like 1 or 2 every mag. Do you think it could be the way the extractor sits it the barrel or i should replace the extractor

oh and I've tried different ammo with the same problem

The stock Ruger extractor apparently is a POS. Sounds like you might have a tighter chamber which would exacerbate poor extraction.

Aftermarket extractors are a cheap and easy option.

I tried ordering the Volquartsen extractor from Midway. I got a call from CS saying that they "over sold" these, and they would be canceling it from my order. What's weird is that their website still says it's in stock.

If it is a newer 10/22 it seems the original Ruger extractor face angle is not quite right these days. Many people replace the extractor with a Volquartson or Power Custom version. Older 10/22s usually work fine with the original extractor for many rounds until it wears out. I have used both brands with success.

Yes, it could also be the way the extractor fits to the new barrel.
Also, if your new barrel has a tight "match" chamber, it may be very picky about what ammo it likes. You may have to try more expensive match grade ammo too.

I just checked, shootersdiscount.com says they have stock on both Volquartsen and Power Custom extractors, in steel and titanium.

Two things that I know of will cause a problem. First the POS Ruger extractor - replace it. Second is the barrel drooping? A lot of times a heavier barrel will droop and that can cause a feeding and extracting issue. An adjustable v-block will take care of any droop.

Also look at how the extractor is aligned with the extractor cut in the barrel.
It's possible to adjust the alignment by how you tighten the two screws in the barrel clamp block.
If they are not tightened evenly, the barrel will tend to rotate one way or the other aaway from a properly centered alignment.

Yes, I'd get the VQ extractor.

But check what AR15 barrels said too. I installed my GM barrel and have had no problems but you need to make sure the extractor notch is lined up properly. That took a little bit (just a little...) of time to fine tune the placement. So you might want to try reinstalling the bbl to see if that fixes the issue. But getting the VQ extractor is still a good idea.
