I bought it from Old Arms..I had to pay quite a bit for it though.. Actually I would like to find a Beech Combination front sight.. But may not.. My front sight must have been broke at one time..So it has a more modern replacement on it now.. I need to get an original Rocky Mountain front for it atleast.. More money, but I bought the Rifle really right, so can put some in it.... Thanks

3/8ths dovetail of course. Height of the one on it now if correct..It probably is, as it appears to be a repro Rocky Mountain like one I seen on ebay is around .250 high off the top of the barrel flat.
Here is a pic of one fella showed me that would be the correct front sight for mine..My rear one is likely a replacement too..But am more concerned with the front right now..Thanks

I impressed myself, and actually remembered where I put it! That's the good news. Bad news I think it came off a Stevens, with a .460 dovetail.
I found two more with a 3/8ths dovetail, one is a bobbed version off a Marlin Ballard, the other is a Lyman, that's a shorter version replacement. I'll see if I can take pics of those two, and get loaded on the PC for you to see.
Found a little ziplog bag full of peep sight apertures, and no clue wth they came from. One plus of getting old, every time I start digging in parts, it's just like Xmas!

Sight came today..Cleaned it up a little and mounted it..Looks pretty good.. I put a blank filler I had here in the rear for now..Have to find the front sight though if Trapp does not anything.
I am also going to have to find a smaller screw in aperture for the tang sight..It is too large for my old eyes yet. Have to figure out what thread pitch they are though...Thanks

Not only made for that gun, it looks like it was! I wonder if that sight was from the lot they just received? I saw some pics, and I'm thinking it might be the estate of someone I use to deal with at the Reno Show. If it is, I hope he's still with us, wealth of info, and a helluva nice guy.
I've got 5 apertures, that I can find right now, and the two 3/8ths DT front sights, sitting here all properly posed for a pic, and the camera battery is dead.
While it's on the charger, I'll see if I can find my thread gauge to see what these threads are.Comment

I think I figured out that the apertures are likely 10-40 Pitch..Looking forward to you getting the camera going.
Do you still still use a digital camera..Seems everyone has Cell phones to take photos now..I do not own a cell phone at all. But have a really old Digital Camera....ThanksLast edited by AR22; 06-29-2023, 6:12 PM.Comment

Canon PowerShot. I've got a Kyocera flip phone that I took a lot of razzing over last thanksgiving. Bunch of us sitting around the pool at Justin4fun's cousin's house.
So I issued a challenge, hold your phone out arms length, drop it on the cool deck, kick it over into the pool, and leave it there for 20mins. I'll do the same, then we'll fish them out with the leaf net, and we'll see which one still works. No takers, but one said "you don't have internet". "Sorry John, it does!". Justin sitting there laughing, tells John, "don't screw with an old man!".
Phone takes great pics, but I think I messed up a setting that lets me email it to my PC. 97 here today, and the garage was hotter than that. Spent 15mins looking for that thread gauge, and had to give up and head for the A/C!
Top L-R
Stevens Rocky Mountain, Marlin Ballard bobbed Rocky Mountain, Lyman
Big aperture on the left has an odd thread, close, but doesn't fit any US or Italian sights, might be off an old German single shot. The two on the far right are exactly the same. 3rd from left has same size hole as the 2 right of it.

Yes you did! I used to spell it "Beech", read a lot of arguments about the spelling, so I looked up the original Patent, and the Inventor was "Beach". When his patent ran out in 1890, Lyman scooped it up. The correct name is the Lyman #5 folding sight. I don't know when, or who, started calling them Beech sights, but I'm guessing it's the same guy that started calling magazines, clips.
The difference between an original Beach sight, and the Lyman is, the Lyman has screws at the pivot points, and the Beach has pins, and a replaceable sight post.
PM me an address, and I'll get this aperture in the mail to you. I'm making one more attempt to find that damned thread gauge, it's always the last place you look!Comment
