I'm not very familiar with these pistols, do the free state versions have magazine disconnects or is this a CA specific feature for this model that was just added to the roster? I owned a MK1 a few years ago and can't remember if it had one or not. Ended up selling it because I couldn't figure out the field stripping and assembly. Loved everything else about the pistol. It had a perfect trigger and nice balance and sights. I think I may have even brought it to the buyer in the 2 pieces, I can't remember. I just remember trying to wrangle that little lever in the grip at just the right angle for over an hour one afternoon until I gave up. I would be very interested in this CA version of the MKIV due to the easier field stripping design.

I have MK 2 and 3 already (sold MK 1) ...time to get MK 4? Aye caramba...didn't want to buy anymore 22s... SR22 seems like a fun trainer too...
Dang DROS fee...have to pay twice if I get both.

I just bought 4 MK IV's for the grand kids. Free State models have the magazine disconnects.Comment

Thank you, it sounds like they should be just as reliable and well built as the free state models then. I always get nervous when they have to alter the original designs to accommodate California specific requirements. I was not a fan of the loaded chamber indicator on the M&P Shield California version. It blocked the line of vision of the irons on the sight picture.Comment

I had a SR22 in DROS at Turners when they went off roster. They would not release to me. I bought a used one for$370. Traded it a few years ago. I missed it and and bought another for a lot more. Finally found a Mark IV stainless for $950 a few years ago. My SR-22s have been picky with ammo. The Mark IVs have been great.Comment

You're lucky you're in kali.
When the Taurus .22 came out I had to buy one.
The the SIG .22 came out and I had to buy one.
Now the Taurus Compact optic-ready is out...Comment

I'm even older. It has been several decades since Big 5 sold handguns; and even when they did, it wasn't exactly the most spectacular selection. They are a discount sporting goods store, after all.
Nevertheless, if they wanted to reintroduce handguns to their lineup, I wouldn't complain. The more, the merrier.John
