    Another happy VQ extractor customer

i am sure this has been posted a million times here but I just have to chime in again. i just installed the VQ extractor in my 22/45 and hand cycle a couple of rounds. THE ROUNDS RIP OUT OF THE EJECTION PORT LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL! It is amazing how well this extractor works. I have only had my My 22/45 a couple weeks and has about 500 rounds thru it. The stock extractor already has one of the claw edges rounded out. when I hand cycle the bolt, the round falls out of the ejection port like melted ice cream down the side of a sugar cone. it is now like night and day. i would not want to be in the way of my empty cases at the range cus the velocity in which it shoots out of there, someone is gonna get burned!

btw, a lot of the popular vendors are out of this part like midway and brownells. I actually bought mine from gunkings.com. Not only was it the lowest price I've found, it was also shipped to me free of charge.

How bad was it to pop in? Will I be inventing new curse words like when I did the volq sear on my 22/45? I get a random FTE maybe one in every 50 rounds. Not enough to make me want to sell the gun, but it is annoying.

Ruger doesn't know how to make extractors for some reason! The 10/22 has a very similar problem.

i had to use a dental pick to push the plunger pin down. it was kinda tough to rotate it around to release the stock extractor but after jabbing my palm a time or two, i got it out. getting it back in is a lot easier. it is almost impossible to do without a metal pick of some kind.

yeah. the extractor for the mkIII is the same one thats one the 10/22. in fact the one i bought is labeled 10/22. for a mkIII, you just use the stock plunger spring.

You may if you dont hold the plunger right and the spring goes flying into space and sending you on your knees blindly looking for the spring like me... I found it though

this was definately the best mod done on my 22/45. It has been 2k rounds without cleaning and not one FTE.

When doing this kind of small projectile work use one of the very large zipplock bags to do the work in and it will save you form looking like the dog with your nose in the carpet on the sent of a squirrel. If you use the very large bags you can cut the bottom to give you hand enough room to use both ends, basically making a clear plastic sleeve over the parts and your hands.

That is a great tip. Like one of those "boxes" where the scientists puts their hands in rubber gloves on the side of the box to deal with the dangerous stuff inside.

I hate my VQ extractor. It makes the shells fling out of the Ruger, bounce off the lane divider and hit me in the head .
