Does anyone know if they make a lower frame assembly in metal for the heritage rough rider? To me it seems to made from aluminum. I want to plate the lower frame in brass using the diy method of heating it up and taking a wire wheel to plate the frame with a brass coating. I did a test run on a scrap piece of metal and it came out looking good. I then tried it on the lower frame assembly and Well it didn't work. It didn't take the brass and I almost ruined the frame I backed off the heat before I did any damage. The metal reacted just like aluminum. So I scratched the diy idea and now want to find a lower frame assembly made in a descent metal. Anyone have any leads?

I assume you mean a steel grip frame? Likely not. Even my Single Six, which is of much higher quality has an aluminum grip frame.
A custom shop may make a one from steel, but it would likely cost much more than the gun is worth.
Yours is an admirable idea and would look real nice. Maybe some brass colored Cerokote would work?

That looks great.
Instead of paint, you might have the aluminum anodized gold.
Gold anodized aluminum is an ok match for brass but it will always look shiney and will not patina like actual brass.
If you want it to patina and get old looking, then cerakote is the solution if you don't want to use the aluminum frame as a plug and make a mold to pour one out of brass.Randall Rausch
