    Light strikes S&W 617-6

Starting to get light strikes with my 617, first noticed it last time I shot it and then even more this morning.

Gun only has a little over 4000 rounds fired, all stock strain screw all the way tight. Always clean it after shooting it, today had around 20% no fires with Federal Blue box and CCI-standard V. In the past never had issues with either or any other bulk ammo.

Anybody fixed this issue without sending it to S&W.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

S&W has been aware of the issue and will fix it free of charge, it has a lifetime warranty.

If they are aware of the problem with light strikes what is the remedy?

I did the same thing on an older Smith model 18. If that worked for you, buying a new spring may do the trick as well.

Is this the kind that has a transfer bar?

The hole where the strain screw bottoms hasn't been flat on any I've looked at. It's been drilled and the drill point left. You can bevel the bottom of the screw, or buy a spare screw and try it with that. I have a lathe, so just drilled and tapped a piece of stock shallow enough to leave the head exposed, and beveled the bottom that way. It can also be done in a drill press. It's a 32 pitch thread IIRC, so easy to keep track of how much deeper it goes by looking at the slot.
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?
