    39A Clone

I just ran across this Chiappa LA322 lever action rifle that looks exactly like a copied Marlin 39A only with an 18 1/2" barrel. Never seen one of these before.

    Any comments?

I seen one at the local Show about a year ago..I always look for Marlins and seen it in the rack, I asked to pick it up..Then realized it was a Chiappa..Looked OK but no where near the appearance of a quality real Marlin.

If you look you can find a real 39A for a good price..I just sold a 1954 Mounty a month back for 550.00..And it took a little to even get that..It was not a pristine collector one..Just a fun shooter..But way better than a Chiappa for sure..

I personally would not buy anything Chiappa, so I say no on them..

Looks more like a hybrid of a Marlin and Winchester. Some Marlin 39's had pistol grip stocks but not barrel bands. Winchesters 9422s had barrel bands but not pistol grips.

Are the 39A internals replicated? I lost it at the alloy frame and "tactial" grey Cerakote receiver.

Yeah, didn't notice "alloy" frame. Probably because it is a lot cheaper than steel forging.

From what I remember the internals are modified from the 39a. remember that Remington only abandoned the line because there was no way to produce them at a price point people would buy them, otherwise they would definitely have continued the longest rifle in commercial production. The design is very finicky with tolerances, especially because of the takedown aspect. I think the last ones Remington "produced" (probably with parts leftover from the marlin acquisition) were priced at like $2600.

The I do not think Remington ever sold any of those from the custom shop at 2600.00,LOL I have never ran across one in the wild anywhere..If I am remembering right, that custom shop was located just north of me in maybe South Dakota.
