10-22 guys...question on sights

Looking at a 16.5" factory Ruger 10/22 barrel to replace my 18", will Tech sights work for a shorter barrel or will tinkering be needed ?

Should be fine. But you'll still have to adjust the Tech sights.

I have these 2 factory barrels, both 18" , might take the front sight off the barrel on the right and use the factory rear set up on the 16" .. not too fond of the style of rear on the factory barrel, like the A1 style of the tech sights better , much easier to adj.

Ruger Factory M1 Carbine ^ it's close... but this rear base sits out on to the barrel a bit (1/2" or so) , I like the look and feel of the M1 style 10-22 , just put my paws on one ... but at $479.00 at my local shop...
the 16.5 is a factory take off also (epay) , don't know if it's better to just buy a set of tech sights or strip the sights off the other factory barrel.. (?!)
