Anybody using a JWH bolt in their 10/22?

Been having some failures to fire with the factory bolt. Looking at the cases, the firing pin is striking at the extreme edge of the rim of the cases that fail to fire. Quite a bit of up & down play in the bolt channel with both a factory firing pin and a Volquartsen firing pin. I'm hoping the added pin that JWH puts in their bolt will eliminate this issue. Anybody have a similar problem, and what was the cure? I know Kidd bolts also have this feature, but they are more expensive.

    Mine all function fine.

    Here's a discussion at RFC regarding FP play/strike > https://www.rimfirecentral.com/threa...in-fix.558091/

Looks like an easy diy fix without going aftermarket. Or let Ruger fix it.

Thanks for the link, I'll try the DIY roll pin fix on one of my 10/22's and a JWH bolt in another and compare.

That does look like the better option they discussed.

You could call Ruger and see if they provide a fix. Warranty work? Maybe they can pin it for you or whatever. Free to find out.

        Good luck

Pinning the factory Ruger bolt will get you more consistent ignition.
I have done all of mine.

The bolt is hard so it takes a carbide drill bit and a milling machine to get through it without breaking the drill bit.

Barrels isn't kidding about those bolts. Getting thru that HARD top layer of heat treated metal is enough to induce Tourette's out of anybody.
