Hi Everyone. I have my eye on a rimfire Colt Peacemaker that is for sale out of state. it is not C&R eligible. I was hoping for a loophole because it is a rimfire SAO firearm.

Can I buy it and have it shipped to CA legally?

I doubt it but felt compelled to ask the forum.

Those are really neat little revolvers---if they made em today it would probably have to sell for at least $900+! I have a blued and color-case 4 1/2" Peacemaker with both 22LR and 22 Mag cylinders---fun gun---the prices for these little jewels has gone sky high! Good luck!

(a) Article 4 (commencing with Section 31900) and Article 5 (commencing with Section 32000) shall not apply to a single-action revolver that has at least a five-cartridge capacity with a barrel length of not less than three inches, and meets any of the following specifications:
(1) Was originally manufactured prior to 1900 and is a curio or relic, as defined in Section 478.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
(2) Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at least seven and one-half inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled.
(3) Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at least seven and one-half inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled and that is currently approved for importation into the United States pursuant to the provisions of paragraph (3) of subsection (d) of Section 925 of Title 18 of the United States Code.

You can buy any Colt SAA from say Buds, and have it shipped to your FFL. The FFL will charge his handling fee (maybe $50 + DROS $37).

You can buy any of the many SAA at Sportsman Warehouse, you also pay DROS $37.

Or the Gun Genie (Davidsons) and have it shipped to your local participating gunstore. The fees on the Gun Genie include Dros and there is no other fee for FFL to process. The fees shown will typically be about $55. That is $37 DROS + $18 shipping. There is no other fees (except sales tax of course).

The Gun Genie will usually be cheaper than either Sportsmans or Buds, for total amount.
