    Marlin Mounty Project

Bought this one today..I really like the Marlins, and projects too..The stock is broken, has quite a bit of "Patina" Should be a first year 1954 Mounty..

Comes with a Bishop replacement stock..Probably take some fitting..But that is part of the fun right..Will post pics when it is done up. Going to have to find the perpetual missing front sight hood though..Stinks, as I just sold my last spare one of those I had..Everything else appears intact and complete.. .Thanks

Oh man! I'm really looking forward to see this one.

            Thanks

Found the missing sight hood from a member over on the Marlinowners forum, they old early round hoods are very hard to find now..Guy in CA actully had it for me..Maybe a member here....Got that today, looks great....The ejector spring is broke in half..Should have that in the mail tomorrow....The butt plate is broke in half..That should be here Saturday..I have the new stock fit already too.Looks pretty good...I should get the rest of the stuff done this weekend, I will post a range report test and a photo then..

I am not doing any refinishing to the metal at all. Just a light clean up..It looks pretty good now..I have refinished metal on a few older vintage Rifles, but they were pretty bad..But this one is pretty fair yet..So it will not be touched..That would devalue it anyway..

If anyone is wandering why the stock needed replaced..It is broken pretty bad on the left side in the wrist..I have repaired alot of wood..Prefer that over replacement, but this one is pretty broken and part of it gone..And a pic of the replacement wood..

Just as a side note..There were 1162 Micro Groove Mountys made in 1954..Wish it was one of the 58 Ballard rifled ones though..LOL

That year was the lowest amount of production in all the years made..

Anyway..It works great..Functions perfectly, feeds, fires and ejects really nice with the new ejector spring...Thanks and I will try to get some better pics if I can..Or have my Daughter take some..
