    Is the Walther P22CA a P22Q?

I see the updated grip, 3 picatinny rails and full serrations but not the captured spring rod. Did I miss something? Hopefully the Walther experts can shine some light.

    AFAIK...

Walther was able to switch the original P22CA (appearance based on the P99) with the new P22CA (appearance based on the PPQ) on the Roster using an exemption.

Since nothing changed internally and all that that changed was the exterior, it qualified for the exemption that allows variants of off-Roster handguns to be listed to the Roster. [PC 32030]

Walther then discontinued the original P22CA, due to it's replacement by the new P22CA/P22Q.

    Penal Code 32030
    (a) A firearm shall be deemed to satisfy the requirements of subdivision (a) of Section 32015 if another firearm made by the same manufacturer is already listed and the unlisted firearm differs from the listed firearm only in one or more of the following features:
    (1) Finish, including, but not limited to, bluing, chrome-plating, oiling, or engraving.
    (2) The material from which the grips are made.
    (3) The shape or texture of the grips, so long as the difference in grip shape or texture does not in any way alter the dimensions, material, linkage, or functioning of the magazine well, the barrel, the chamber, or any of the components of the firing mechanism of the firearm.
    (4) Any other purely cosmetic feature that does not in any way alter the dimensions, material, linkage, or functioning of the magazine well, the barrel, the chamber, or any of the components of the firing mechanism of the firearm.
    (b) Any manufacturer seeking to have a firearm listed under this section shall provide to the Department of Justice all of the following:
    (1) The model designation of the listed firearm.
    (2) The model designation of each firearm that the manufacturer seeks to have listed under this section.
    (3) A statement, under oath, that each unlisted firearm for which listing is sought differs from the listed firearm only in one or more of the ways identified in subdivision (a) and is in all other respects identical to the listed firearm.
    (c) The department may, in its discretion and at any time, require a manufacturer to provide to the department any model for which listing is sought under this section, to determine whether the model complies with the requirements of this section.

Does that mean the common issues in the P22 Bible have already been resolved in the "New" P22-CA?

Or do the new P22s have the same common issues the ones mentioned in the Bible? And is not as good as the P22Q...

If so, to the P22 gurus of the forum, will Walther actually fix these problems via their lifetime warranty?

Or, do you just get back a gun that's been replaced with the same internal components that contribute to all of the FTF, FTE, and other common issues?

The P22 I bought in California earlier this year had all the exterior changes of a Q model but still had uncaptured spring. I installed a captured spring and have no complaints, much better than first models I bought and sold a few years ago
