Single Shot Drop Block Rifle Owners Come On In

Are there any single shot drop block rifles out there that extract the spent case when you pull down the lever after firing or do most of them require you to pull the spent case out with your finger nails?

I used to have an Uberti-produced Winchester 1885 High Wall in 45-70.

The chamber had a spring-loaded extractor (not ejector) that would push the case rim out about 1/8" when the action was opened.

The spring was pretty weak: if the case was sticking to the chamber wall, the extractor could not overcome the friction and the case would stay chambered when the action was opened.

I have a Savage Model 72 that operates this way. Single shot lever action extraction, with an octagonal barrel.

So your saying that pulling the handle down will fully eject the case or will just pop it out enough to grab with your fingers?

It may be a bit dated, and not a "drop block" action, but... a Remington Rolling block number 7 has an extractor that operates when you open the action.

            Best regards,

I have a Winchester Lo Wall, haven't shot it in forever but IIRC, it has an extractor. A quick search shows that the newer re-issues have an ejector.

I ended up buying a Winchester 72A bolt action. Thanks to everyone who answered my questions.

Sorry I didn't see your ? before you bought. But don't worry you can sell that Winnie and put the $ toward a No1. But beware they are addictive.

Ruger No1 will. Some people remove the ejection spring so the case is only partially ejected.

Not exactly a 22LR in the first video LOL

I see that they make it in .22lr, but the video! A new one is a great looking rifle!

My Winchester Winder musket has full ejection..But mine is chambered in .17 HM2 now..I would assume all Winchester High and Low walls do..
