Do you have any 22 on hand?
I never had a 22 mag
My brain tells me that 22 lr will not chamber in 22 mag.
Is my memory correct or will 22 lr fit into a 22 mag?
Or is it like 38 special fitting into a .357 chamber?Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

.22 Mag is larger in diameter than .22LR and will not fit into a .22LR chamber.
.22LR will fit in a mag chamber but it will be very loose inside.
Ruger cylinder, Single Six, Old or New Model.
When Ruger changed from the Old Model to the New Model, there was some mixing of parts creating "transition" models.
This cylinder may fit an Old or New Model.

Thanks guys. Thought it looked like my pop’s single six but didn’t have it on hand to compare. I remember the unfluted mag cylinder now that people mention it. The rings threw me off, I only have semi autos.Comment

1971 colt new frontier .22wmr cylinder is not fluted vs .22lr cylinder is fluted..
not sure about new models but my 1971 old model single six both cylinders are fluted but chamber face is different..
and factory fit ruger convertible cylinders have last three digits of s/n hand engraved on the opposite side of chamber..

chamber face of .22wmr cylinder standing in front

L .22lr / R .22wmr 1971 single six per "Old" Single Six cylinders. as well as more relevant info to the op..
I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment

looking back at op's pictures my bet is old model .22wmr cylinder.. fits visual comparison and most likely cylinder to be separated from a .22 convertible.. but the most sure way is to chamber check it with a .22wmr vs .22lr round.. good luck!I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment

Killer Bee, thanks for the info. I had the same thought about the less common round cylinder being more likely to be separated. Appreciate the info and link. I’ll read up when I have some time. Definitely similar cylinder face as the WMR, lacking the recessed ring of the LR. Pretty sure my Dad has some WMR so I can chamber check.Comment

22LR will chamber and fire in a 22mag chamber.
It's just not a good fit.
22magnum should not fit into a 22LR chamber because the 22mag case is larger diameter than the 22LR case which is about the same diameter as the bullet while the 22mag bullets sit inside the case.Randall Rausch
