    Hammerli rifle?

I saw this http://www.hammerliarms.com/Default.aspx the other day and can't seem to find any info on it. Seems like a decent rifle/deal. anyone have practical experience to share?

I bought one. It is a simple cheap rifle. To start with it is made in Mexico. The stock is child air rifle sized. If normal size you won't be able to get good eye position behind a scope. Need to be back a couple of inches and the little scope mounting grove is to far to the rear. On mine the iron sights did not have enough adjustment to come up enough to be any good and the three scopes and mounts I tried were all out of adjustment in the up direction and still a little low. It must have the barrel in the reciever crooked. I bent it back and it is centered pretty well now. The action is simple. So simple that if you use low velocity ammo it fires 4 or 5 at a time. I will sell this to you for 90 bucks just meet me at a store in SoCal to transfer. Not Hammerli quality at all.

The design is simple with just a few parts, quite nifty really. It only has a couple of trigger group parts and the bolt and striker are funky but I think it is a unique and interesting design. Very easy to break down for chamber end cleaning.
The finish and fit is ok for a cheap rifle.
It is the execution of the details that is missing. The reciever is pressed steel and houses everything the trigger group, bolt and firing thingy/striker, guide rod and springs, and the barrel is press fit and pinned at the front.
The trigger has a inch of creep at least. It is the longest I have ever tried but it is smooth and breaks clean.
When using low power ammo the thing fires several rounds in a row even with the finger off the trigger, pull the trigger once and let go and it continues to fire. Once it emptied the tube mag, that is 17 rounds while I just held on to it and pointed it down range. It is due to the way the design is to catch the striker and the disconnect don't work together. If the bolt doesn't go back far enough it will let the striker come forward and fire a round. Doesn't happen with normal high velocity ammo.
        I would stay away.
