    Bolt Action 22lr Build

    Hey folks,

So, I want to build a bolt action 22lr that is similar to the Ruger Precision but you know, cooler looking. I was wondering what platform to start with, Rem, CZ, Tikka... I know these things can add up in cost and most will say just get the Ruger, but I just want to put something together that will look different on the bench when out at the range.

Any suggestions and or pics you guys have, I'd appreciate. Or even just pointing me in the right direction can help.

    TIA~

Sounds like you want a CZ with a chassis. I recommend CZ not only bc they're good shooters, but CZ has tons of aftermarket stock/chassis options. Take your time and do a ton of research. You'll soon figure out what you like and don't like. There is a lot of good info at Snipershide in their rimfire section, and over at rimfirecentral. Be careful though, once you start on your build costs will take big jumps...but only because you are having fun....so its all good.

-Since you already know you will go to a chassis, you can get the cheapest CZ 457 rifle, which I think is the scout. In reality, these rifles are popular, so you'll probably have to buy whatever you can get. You'll probably also change the barrel and add a bunch of other goodies.

something like these? (fotos off the web: Area 419, MDT)

Yes sir, I have built a howa 1500 on a KRG and had lots of fun doing it! Man, Ive been reading after posting this and that MDT chasis is nice.

So with the CZ I saw a 457 pro varmint suppressor ready with the heavy barrel. Is that something worth moving into? Any other makes that do well?

My suggestion would be a CZ 457 Varmint suppressor ready with a KRG Rimfire Bravo stock.

Heres my 455 with KRG. The newer 457 KRG stock is more stable with an extended aluminum backbone.

If I didn’t go with a vudoo, Cz 457 would be the way to go.

Vudoo or RimX. Pick the chassis or stock you want to run.

I'm biased towards Vudoo since I've been shooting one for the past couple years now.

Bergara B-14R carbon fiber barreled action w/MDT LSS. Probably spent about same as a Vudoo, but didn't feel like waiting.

                CZ 455 w/MDT LSS 22.

Too many rifles, not enough time...

Going the Bergara B-14R steel route myself. Picking it up tomorrow and can't wait. Pairing it with an MDT LSS-XL fixed chassis.

Search for Eagle Eye Shooting on youtube. He started a series on Bergara 14R.
