    Tippmann Arms...

I am considering a Tippman Arms M4-22 AR-style and was wondering of its accuracy (or my ability to be accurate :-) ).

I have a Ruger Mark III and can hit a target at 40 yards with some accuracy (have not gone further with it) using CCI Stingers and similar rounds. Can I expect better accuracy (distance) from a Tippmann due to its AR-style design, or would shooting a Ruger 10/22 give similar results to a Tippmann?

And a side question: Being rimfire, does the impact of the firing pin contribute to the distance a round goes (harder the impact, further it travels). Or is it mostly dependent on the type of round? TIA.

Stingers are the hottest 22lr normally available to us ordinary folks that I have found. Firing pin impact....uh first time to read about that in my 78 years.

The rim fire is how the primer is detonated.

In Centerfire- primer is in the center and the cup is squished by the firing pin.

in rimfire, the rim is hollow... priming compound is spun into the rim.

Firing pin squishes rim against the barrel.

Are you a newbie when it comes to shooting? There are millions of new, first-time gun owners out there who have come to own a firearm in the last three-plus years. Are you confused by the terms ‘rimfire’ and ‘centerfire’ when it comes to ammunition? We were all in your shoes once. So don’t fret…here’s ... Read more

As the firing pin can hit the barrel if the gun is empty- steel firing pin- hitting steel barrel, you normally do not want to "dry fire" with a 22LR or any rimfire..

over time you can beat up the firing pin or edge of the barrel and they will not work correctly

Tippman M4 with magnified red dot at 50 yds u can hit golf balls every shot. I use CCI standards and velocitors
I shoot the M4 pistol. The rifle would be even more accurate.
Get the Tippman it’s badas# fun.

              Thanks folks.

For the sake of accuracy & distance (the latter being important for my young nephews, who like hitting targets that are far), the determining factor being the length of the barrel. Theoretically, a 10/22 with a 18.5" barrel would have a slight edge over the 16" Tippmann.
