    spikes AR22 bolt help

mine broke. kinda fixed it. don't think that was the greatest idea but yea.

so while i was shooting a few weeks ago...the recoil spring? came off the guide rod (few of the end coils were twisted) and hung out towards the rear. well i ended up cutting the few twisted coils and got the spring back along the guide rod, but i'm wondering if i'm missing something on the guide rod or if that guide rod is supposed to be stuck to the back of the bolt.

the picture on spike's tactical website doesn't really help. can someone check theirs and let me know or take a pic?

    Thanks,

If it broke you should have contacted Spikes first thing. They have great customer service and probably would have fixed for you, if not replaced it.

If you were shooting and the spring went limp and you couldn't fire anymore (no forward force on the bolt), then you, most likely, lost the small e-clip that goes on the end of the spring guide rod. It's just a 3/32" or 1/8" e-clip that you can temporarily replace at Orchard Supply Hardware. It makes the spring push the rod into the back of the bolt carrier group. They are working on a one-piece guide rod that wouldn't require such a weak e-clip. Until then, just watch out for this. Also, if you lost some coils, you may need to order a new spring (or "field repair kit") from Spike's.

      Good luck!

call spikes, they will probably send a new spring and e clip. there is a website where you can buy in bulk the e clips, here is the website http://www.mcmaster.com/#98408A117 I also use this part http://www.mcmaster.com/#90295A070 I put in front of the clip to protect it from the recoil, it lasts around 1000 rounds then needs to be replaced since its plastic.

Yes, call Spike's. They were great with me when I had an issue with my ST-22.

thanks guys...calguns people always have answers.
i just ordered the parts from mcmasters, hopefully that'll fix it. I took off like 5-6 coils so once i get the parts we'll see if it'll cycle correctly, if not then i guess i'll call spikes for a new spring.

uhhh... maybe i'm being paranoid, but wouldn't it be safer having spikes take a look at it, instead of tinkering with it if you don't even have a diagram of what it should look like properly assembled??

              call spike's.
