    CMMG 22lr conversion kit?

Im in the market for a CMMG 22lr conversion kit for my 16" BCM Middy in 1/7"

I understand that there is alot of lead fouling in high twist rate barrels?

What if I go a session of 1500 22lr rounds and immediately switch to my 5.56 BCG without properly cleaning my barrel of lead fouling?

I had a conversion kit before but I only shot it from a 1/9 barrel and maybe 100 rounds max. I sold it to pay for another project. Now the urge to shoot weekly and wanting to train with my rifle cheaply makes me want to get another.

Also does the aguila SSS 60 gr subsonic rounds shoot well in the 1/7?
Will they even cycle the CMMG?
How is stability with standard high velocity 40 gr bullets in 1/7?

Sorry guys for so many question.

    Thanks

Back in ROTC we had a couple AR15s that we used for BRM training. We had a rifle range under the University Gym so we would have to use the .22LR conversion kits down there. One of the rifles had a noticeable bulge midway down its barrel that was caused by shooting 5.56 ammo though a heavily leaded barrel.

These were on old school SP1s which had 1:10 or 1:11 twist barrels so as you already mentioned shooting a 1:7 just increases the leading you will get.

For that reason I only shoot copper plated rounds when I use my .22LR conversion kits and always clean the barrel well before switch back for full caliber.

As far as cycling reliability, most of the standard velocity ammo works in my conversion (an old Colt), but I have found that the mini-mags give me near 100% function and are copper plated. They may be a little pricier but they are still a lot cheaper than 5.56 ammo.

      Not really.

You can always use CP bullets (copper plated) instead of LRN (lead)

Been there, done that, no issue.

Train with .22lr is totally not the same as training with 223.

Even 36gr Federal Bulk Champion shot without issue with 1/7 14.5" Noveske. Groups like 2-3in" @ 50yds.

But LRN Fiocchi Match group < 0.5-1" @ 50yds, with a 24" SS Bull Barrel 1/9. It is freaking accurate!!!

        thanks.

To train I mean like ergonomics, muscle memory, positions, trigger control, speed reloads, sight acquisition.

I havent shot my ar15 in a while just because I couldnt bring myself to open up my 5.56 stash.

and plus. I wont have to deal with that mag lock.
