    9422 silver parts?

I just picked up a 1975 9422 for a fair price, superb shape except the lever, hammer, and trigger are silver colored? Looks like they've been (obviously) replaced to me, no clue why anyone would do that. I can't find anywhere that Winchester ever sent one out like this.

I've already located an NOS lever and a good used trigger, but here's the thing. Numrich and Midwest (among others) mention a discrepency in the hammer, trigger, and trigger pin for pre and post serial number 529,000 mine being way under than number. But I cannot find any difference in the hammer or separate part numbers. Maybe just the trigger and trigger pin are different but use the same hammer, hard to tell.

Anyway, I want it original of course.... Can anyone offer insight on this? Also, any good part sources besides Numrich and Midwest?

    Thank you.

Why not just have your parts re-blued?

I would look for a lever action forum.

My question is what are the parts made from?
      Steel
      Brass
      Nickel plated steel
      Aluminum

If someone simply plates the OEM parts, I agree with the person above

If you can't enjoy it as is, have them sent out and blued.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Well it's easier to just buy originally blued Winchester parts, I have a lever and a trigger enroute already. If this is something Win did at the factory (although I do doubt it) than I'd obviously like to keep these unusual parts as is.

A local gunsmith thinks this might be original, but I just can't get onboard with that until I see another one.

Check your existing parts with a magnet to see if they're stainless (magnet won't stick to high chrome nickel grades) magnet will stick to carbon steel . I can't imagine they're aluminum- too soft.
When you get your new parts weigh them and compare weights to your existing ones.

In the photo that you posted, it looks like someone just removed the blueing. If that is the case, you can get the parts reblued. I would follow alpho romeo XV's advice above.

Winchester made a Boy Scout commemorative that came with silver parts, although the finger lever had engraving. They also made an Annie Oakley and Cheyenne commemorative, but both of those were gold toned.

The parts just look too new to me Randy, like perfect finish... not a scratch.

EDIT: Okay here's the answer, all parts in question are magnetic.

This rifle could have began life as a distributor special and the offending parts were finished in the white from Worcester sans bluing just for aesthetics.

Distributors sometimes run one off specials that are or at least look semi custom. That's a possibility for this rifle. 1/500 kinda thang.

                      I'd run this as is.

The thought crossed my mind, looking at the rifle what else might cross my mind is the idea that the whole thing may have been re-blued and they just did this to be different.

                        I'll keep digging.
