"Jonesing" for a Baretta 89

A wonderful aspect of this hobby/obsession is not knowing what you don't know...until you do know.

I'm a fan of 22lr in any format. That being said, I thought I was content...until I stumbled across the Beretta 89. Instantly wanted it (ironically a Beretta was my first pistol purchase in 1984) and naturally it's not made any longer and given what it is, not so many floating around for a quick/easy/reasonable purchase.

The upside is that since it's CA roster exempt (Olympic Competition), once one eventually pops up on GB or elsewhere, I can purchase online. Now the painful wait begins ;-(

Beretta makes really nice looking pistols. I like the 87 as well, it looks nice and I've heard it performs well.

I had never noticed that the 89 was Olympic exempt....not that I have any budget left anyway. Buy one and post pictures so we can live vicariously

OP, I was like you but the Benelli 95E was the one that caught my eye, haha!!

Took me a while to find one, but it finally popped up at an FFL in Florida. Half the fun was the hunt, haha!! It even came with a vintage Ultra Dot.

My collection is meager so far..But I love the Berettas..Really like the 1984 70s I have like new in the box..Others are a Bobcat, a Police 92s...And a nice Police in .32 ACP..I do not like the plastic grips..So I stash those away and put wood on them..I am always on the lookout for them..There was a very nice little 958 in 22 short only yesterday at the local show..I should have brought it home and kinda regret it now..

I've been a Beretta fan for going on 38 years, just never knew (kicking myself now as they stopped making them in 2012) about the 89 Gold Standard. The hunt/acquisition journey continues!

Y’all have some nice pistols.
I have a Minx (.22 short), and a Jetfire (.25ACP), in the SplitHoof Ranch reference collection. Would be fine acquiring an Olympic type of .22LR as well. From what I’ve actually seen, they shoot extremely well.

I have an 89 “gold standard” I picked up at Tri City (if anyone remembers that place) in Fremont back in 1997. It’s a good shooter though I wasn’t aware it was on the Olympic exemption list. I don’t think it’s quite that level.
If you find one make sure you get the mags. They’re virtually impossible to find these days.

I bought one about 15 years ago with 5 magazines. It shoots great. I do think however that my nothing holds a candle to my Hamden High Standards, but I don't shoot them a lot anymore because spare parts are too hard to find. I actually shoot my Model 41 more even though it is not my favorite because barrels and parts are still made for them.

If you want the best however get a Pardini SP.
