Hardware store nylon bolt. 1/4 x 3in. Or the dozens of other after market buffer bolts. Not very common that the bolt breaks. If you like the clacking sound go with metal.

I read some where that some people replace that pin with the Home Depot 1/4" teflon rod. Keep searching for that topic.

I installed a KIDD bolt buffer pin, which is a steel pin with a softer sleeve. Definitely improved the bolt noise when shooting HV ammo. It is a bit more of pita to install and reinstall after cleaning, though not too bad.

My stock bolt buffer pin is still fine after more than 1k rounds. Makes we wonder if the aftermarket spring you is too light for HV ammo. I ran CCI minimags, Aguila HV, Federal HV through mine with no issues.

I like the hybrid design of the kids pin better than the nylon bolt pins. They all work.

I use TufferBuffer's in all my 10-22's. They are quiet, inexpensive, and durable.
I've been using them for several years, buy them direct from the maker, neonbee on e-bay.

I don't know how their customer service is these days with everything so busy but years ago you could just send Ruger a short letter explaining what happened was not caused by any abuse on your side and include the part that was broken and they would mail you out a replacement, unless it was something that needed to be factory installed.

If you're just going to throw the part away it wouldn't hurt to give that a shot because they might send you two or three back for free.
