How to remove FRONT SIGHT from Ruger 10/22 takedown barrel??

A little info please.

Please see pic.

How to remove these two parts off the barrel:
1: the front sight- (Green arrow in pic) is it pressure fit/ can I remove it by tapping it forward?

2: The mounting mechanism for the quick release..(red arrow in pic) ...how is it attached? Is it dovetailed so I can tap it out sideways or is it something else? <--- Solved, thank you FNG Glock!
The reason I'm asking is I want to experiment making a blast forwarding device (not a suppressor) and I want to be able to put the barrel in a lathe without the extra parts on it.

Not sure about the sight, but the rear part release has 2 bolts to the barrel. You need to pull the pin out to get to one. See some youtube videos for instructions. Or look at the Magpul X22 optic mount install instructions.

The sight blade is dovetailed into the barrel.
A williams sight pusher will drift it out.



You will still have the sight base left as the sight base is part of the barrel.



If you want the sight base removed, it can be machined down.
there will still be a little bit of the dovetail slot showing though.
When I thread those 10/22 barrels, the threads will go through where the dovetail cut was.

Isn't the barrel in the pic threaded? There's definitely something out front of the sight... and some of these were threaded from the factory.

It looks to have a thread protector in front of the front sight.
His question was how to remove the front sight.
Maybe he didn't realize there are threads under the thread protector though so good call on pointing out what was obvious to you and I but maybe not to the OP.
