Ordered a new S&W Model 41 7" Target .22

- Mine came with 2 magazines.
- I still have the OEM recoil spring (5K rounds)
- I shoot mine with SV.

Well I just looked up the serial number on my 7" pistol, it appears 1984 rather than 1978 like I thought for some reason.

I got one a couple of years ago. I really like it and enjoy shooting it. I also have a Buckmark Contour with a 7,25” barrel and I have to say I can shoot much better with the Buckmark. But the the Buckmark has a Holosun and the 41 is iron sights. LOL.

They are both new. The 7" is $1299 and the 5.5 Performance Center is $1499 or $1549. I think they were each $50 less than Sportsmans.

The performance center for the rail. Then you can slap your optics on.

Most performance center guns are kind of ugly IMO, and the 41 is no exception to that... Unless you need or can truly benefit from the PC enhancements the classic look is what I go for.

Well, he still hasn't test fired it. So many tack drivers get borescoped and have have ugly barrels...

November 02, I ordered a 41 from sportsman’s warehouse. On November 10, it arrived and after inspecting it, I filled out the paper on it and started the clock ticking. When going over the paperwork, it was noted that my serial number ends in 666. I had no problem with that as my airplane tail number is 666…lol.
On November 20, just minutes after the 240 hours of wait time elapsed, I took possession and promptly joined up with a friend who has membership in the Napa Gun Club. We found that releasing the trigger guard is indeed extremely stiff, but In careful observation, we were able to remove and reinstall the slide and reseat the trigger guard.
Napa Gun Club burned to the ground a couple of years ago, but they are in the process of rebuilding and at the moment, the only handgun range available for use is 25 yards. I found that my 61 year old eyes are not as good as they were in the 1980’s and it was a bigger challenge to see those itty bitty targets, but I found that I was just as good as my host and that we are not a danger to society at 25 yards.
We had one FTE and a couple fail to fire but overall, I wasn’t disappointed in its performance. I am going to add a red dot to it and go back and try to use up some of lifetime supply of 22 that I’ve acquired.
The above is my initial observations as a new Model 41 owner.
