Will a Henry H001 Cycle an Empty Casing?

Been reading about how dry firing a Henry rimfire can eventually peen the chamber. Would loading an empty case as the last "round" in a magazine help prevent this? If not, is there a particular brand of snap caps that won't damage the firing pin, and that will last multiple "firings" without getting so deformed it won't cycle?

I use empty .22 LR case in all my Pistols and Rifles for dropping the hammer for storage. It probably won't cycle through the tube magazine. Use a little light oil on the empty case and then manually insert it into the chamber, close the action. Pull the trigger. Done. The light oil on the case will help keep it from sticking during long periods of storage. Any snap caps will work too. Some people even use the small gauge drywall inserts.

I'm really surprised that Henry id not design the H001 with a firing pin block (or inertial firing pin) so that dry firing does not damage the chamber.

I am cheap, I used dry wall ankers #4 on all of my .22LR pistols and rifles, Home Depot around $5 for 100 of them.

As long as they will feed from the tubular magazine, you're good to go.

Hahahahaha I put ONE to the breech and pull the trigger to release the firing pin spring pressure. Anyway, I like the tubular joke, never did that before so don't know but if you did them let me know how is it Hahahaha

The Henry has a hammer that can be lowered manually, no need for a snap cap in this situation.

The OP is asking about loading an empty case as the last round in the magazine so it won't dry fire at the end of the shooting session.

I completely missed this! That's a great idea. For as cheap as true snap caps are it would be worth doing that.
