    The Crickett project

Well I had enough liner here for another 17 HM2 conversion. And I own a Chamber reamer for three other .17 conversions I have done in other Firearms recently. Have to put the stuff to use I guess...How does a little crickett .22 converted to .17 HM2 sound?

Here is what is done and will be put on this week to finish it up..Barrel lined and rechambered to Mach II..Works great..I am putting this black laminate thumbhole stock, cheap aluminum 10-22 muzzle break from Ebay, picatinny mount from Keystone for a cheap red dot I have here...

It needs that compensator to handle the increased recoil of the 17 HM2 of course

Will post a pic soon of it finished..I have the adapter threads mounted on the barrel for the compensator done also.. The Crickett itself was free from my brother..It was neglected in moisture, rust inside the barrel and out..So a reline to 17 HM2 was of course the next logical step

I hate cold blue so it will just be polished and stay that way..Should look good with the black laminate stock..I think the Grandkids will like it..

Probably be a one of a kind Crickett It is kinda just a funny something to do project for a retired guy, than a serious Rifle thing..But still should fun.

Those little guns are great for teaching the young ones, and I've had a ton of fun with them myself (CCI quiets and Aguila work great!) would be a great little HM2 platform, cool idea!

I still have the Crickett here from when my kids were little too..Next year the Grandkids will be shooting both of these as they will be ready then..Kinda cool they can shoot their Moms and Uncles first Rifle with Gramps.. And also the new one Gramps is putting together for them too.

One bi-product of this conversion, It is a good bi-product..You probably know these little Rifles are kinda tough for large hands to load..Especially with an optic mounted..The necked down pointed .17 bullet makes the task much, much easier..The pointed rounds pretty much fall right in.

IIRC the Crickett's butt stock is hollow. Lots of room in there for on board survival gear etc.
I think it'd make a great carry along survival rifle.

I've seen some good diy examples.
        Hollow tube idea is interesting.

AR22, would have never thought your color was hot pink!
Perfect little rifle for that cartridge, I'll be watching for the range report.

Stock and Scope Mount came today..Looks like the much needed Compensator is delayed till tomorrow..Will post a pic of it on there..

              Might need a Bipod now..

                Compensator is on..

I did not shoot a paper target today..But I shot a empty paint can That is about as sophisticated I get with targets for the most part....After bore sighting the red dot at home..I zeroed it in on the can..Distance was likely around 30 yards only..But for no magnification and bad eyes, and a cheap red dot..Once dialed in it was putting pretty good groups well under a inch for sure..

So it is pretty much done..I have to remark the caliber so no idiot in the future puts a .22 short in it and fires it..You would think the .17 bore would be enough..But we know it is not..It will of course not chamber a LR Cartridge..But it will a short.

Overall I am happy with the results and how it came out....
