    Colt 1911

Got my old, new to me, Colt 22 Conversion Unit..Mounted it on a RIA Frame I assembled..Seems to function great as a single shot..I did not get a magazine with it,LOL

Anybody have a lead on one that will not break a guy? Anyone have one too? How do you like it?

Any idea when this one may have been made? I am thinking maybe 60s or early 70s? It is in beautiful condition.. I think it was used very little..

Not crazy about the two tone..Is what it is.. Pic

You will need to get a REAL Colt mag which can be pricey. Some of the cheaper knock offs may work for awhile. Your unit looks to be from the 70s on up. I’ve had Colt SM Aces and conversion# since the 70s. I don’t use the conversions anymore just the real deal, the whole complete pistol. If you need help send me a PM. DO NOT DRY FIRE WITHOUT AN MT CASE IN THE CHAMBER! I could NOT get GSG mags to work in my Ace,they would bind so I’m not trying that route again. The Ace was not known for accuracy ( due to the floating chamber) but mine have been totally reliable with any and all bulk 22 ammo but after 4-500 rds without cleaning mine start to sputter. I know the Ace makes me a better pistol shot with any of my 45 autos having identical feel and trigger.

      Thanks

I have read that the GSG mags work great in these..Really the only one that people say will work besides the original Colts and the Kart Mags..Which I hear are near impossible to find. I did borrow a Colt mag from my buddy today..It ran flawless with CCI Mini Mags..

I will likely have to "pony" up the bucks for an original Colt just to have one..But I am confident the GSG will function fine...

I am stupid for sure..But I bought a nice original Colt mag today also..Only 120.00 But whatever..It is nice to have it I guess..

Your Colt ACE is beautiful by the way..

I do have a question for you..I have read that you need a slide catch that is marked with a 2 on the underside..Mine that came with my kit is..But I have a problem when using the 2 marked one it came with..It binds and will not let the slide lock back after the last shot. And it makes assembly/disassembly hard.

When I use the regular one from my standard RIA lower that I use with my .45 upper it all works perfect..

But the 2 marked one does have the pretty Colt blue though..I see no differance in them other than the finish..
