I just spent hours installing an Eliminator rod that did not fit!!! Why did I choose to replace the original?? I cannot give you a rational answer. Yes you will loose the C clip if you mess with it. I think mine achieved orbital velocity and is some were between my garage and the next block. No need to replace the guide rod unless it is broken. I doubt you will ever see a broken one.
Don't take it apart! No need to fiddle with a Buckmark. Tooth brush and cleaner for the breech. Occasional dab of oil for the slide.

        Per there website
*Please Note* Due to variations in Buck Marks, some light sanding/fitting may be required.

I have installed several of these, 10 seconds of a touch on a bench grinder and perfect fit.
I love these, much easer than original and no "C" clips to mess with.

I agree with you. Didn't wanna go the grinder route. Too much too fast. Emery cloth was slower but worked.
QUESTION: Why replace what is working? What is the advantage? I do not see any need to take the old rod and spring out and replace them. What am I missing?

The first time I took mine apart for cleaning, the "C" clip flew off never to be found. I ordered a few more just to have spares.
About a year later I discovered the Striplin Eliminator recoil guide rod, no more "C" clip to mess with. Makes life much easier.

Mine is mostly fine as long as I shoot CCI MiniMags. Going to the "cheap" stuff means frequent FTE's. I did some research on that and found this website for Buckmark-related issues. I haven't followed up on that but maybe someone here has and will post their results.

All in all, a great pistol. Still trying to understand why only a 10-round magazine though...

Don't dry fire without something in there. Some people use a small drywall screw anchor as a dummy round.

You will want one of these!....

Magazines! You can never have too many. The indoor range I go to has a 1 hour max time limit (since reopen from covid lockdowns). I took ten magazines preloaded. It was a hoot.

Great choice and enjoy it. I don't believe the manual recommends field stripping the Buckmark down for cleaning anymore, though I'm sure some owners still do it. As noted above just locking the slide back and cleaning what you can get to works pretty well.

Once the initial break-in period it's a very reliable pistol from what I've seen.

It is a very reliable gun, so honestly, there is not much to be aware of or worry about. But not all semi-automatic guns will eat all ammo, so try to figure out if your new rimfire will run with any brand.. or if it is a picky eater.

I'm a rifle shooter and have probably shot no more than two dozen rounds from handguns over the years. My reason for buying a .22 pistol was to acquire at least some proficiency shooting a handgun but this is a range toy, plain and simple.

I picked it up on Sunday, cleaned off the grease (without field stripping), and took it out for a spin this morning. Some initial impressions:

It shoots better than I do. In one string of ten shots, 7 were in a once inch group at 10 yards, which is far better than I was hoping for. I was able to hit the paper (a pellet gun target) right away.

The biggest problem with it is my progressive bifocals. I tried looking through the bottoms but it was early in the day, I was facing the sun, and so for the most part the sight was blurry.

There were a few ejection failures, but nothing that concerns me right now. I'm still trying to get the hang of the gun and I realize it needs to be shot a bit more before I worry about what appear to be malfunctions. I did have trouble at one point with the slide because I was gripping the top rail, which is screwed down tight. Kinda dumb, but that's what practice is for.

It seems to like Aguila 40 grain HV ammo (yellow box) best. Aguila SV amo didn't shoot as well. I have tons of Aguila HV ammo and can save the SV stuff for my rifles.

I need to adjust the sights, probably after shooting from 15 yards. POI is a bit high and to the right.

I'm very pleased with this pistol and look forward to extending its reach (how far DO people shoot these?). Thanks to all those who offered suggestions.

Sounds like a great group at 10 yds. I set my sights of a stand, but then shoot offhand. Most of the time I get 4” groups of 50 rounds at 15 yds.
I get up to 25 yds with mine and it does well for the big iron sights. Things get a bit rough at 50 yards.

Oh, and with any kind of red dot sight, beginners fall in love with the gun and shooting instantly.
So easy to hit with, it makes people feel good about themselves...and this gun thing is now something they know they can do.
Next thing you know, they will want to buy their own gun.
Agreed on both counts above. Cleaning the breech face & extractor area will keep it trouble-free. I've had my Buck Mark for 10 years and it's a blast to take out to any range day. I recently picked up a Tactical Solutions top rail and put a Primary Arms Micro Dot on it, and it's an absolute joy to shoot all day long. I'd stick with iron sights while you're learning, but don't be afraid to get a red dot for it down the line when you just want to have fun blasting away.
