22 Shorts should only be a problem in any 22 unless it is a semi auto or pump that will not fee them correctly..Even those will shoot em if hand fed..Shorts could have a slight accuracy difference if the bullets are lighter.

      Shoot away.

.22 shorts are fine for that. To avoid extraction troubles, You will probably have to scrub the charge holes a little extra when using L.R. afterwards .

Because 22 Longs are so uncommon now, i only recently learned that a 22 Long is a 22 Short bullet (29 grain) in a 22LR length case (but powder charge/velocity is lower than 22LR) Let's see if that ever helps me get a Jeopardy question right.

Interesting. I did not know that.

Kind of figured that would be the case.

Use them in my Ruger Single-Six and my Remington 572.

                    Great fun!

My favorite .22 Rimfire trick used to be very carefully removing the bullet (don't use your teeth/lead poisoning, use pliers wrapped in a cloth with gloves on and eyes and ear protection.) then you empty out the gunpowder and push the empty case down on some wax, that you've melted onto something like a cookie sheet. ...

Wax bullets propelled only by the primer and just like the fast draw /gunslingers / handgun-showmanship used to use, just in .22 rimfire.

Although I think they sell plastic / rubber projectiles for people who want to do it for the bigger calibers these days.

** my lawyer advises me to tell you not to do this because it's probably illegal in California with wax being so toxic and the fact that you'd probably do it wrong and get hurt. So don't do it.

I've done that with a 45 acp. The primer is still pretty loud, but it didn't seem to foul the barrel or anything negative.

I like using the CB shorts or CB longs in bolt action rifles, they sound like a pellet gun. Good for teaching new shooters since they won't flinch...as much.
