Looking for a conversion kit from 45 app to 22 LR. I see many brands but if anybody has experience with one of them I would appreciate your thoughts. I have a GI issue 1911 not A1 dating from 1918

Looking into this topic as well.

Others have issues based on ammo type. These days I wouldn't be sure I always have appropriate ammo per my likes. -
What's your purpose? Budget? Accuracy? Marvel and Nelson kits get the best reviews overall...
I have a dedicated 1911/22 (Kimber Rimfire Target) that is finicky with some ammo,
if I had to purchase another upper I'd go with Advantage Arms or GSG for plinking.sigpicOriginally posted by dunndealStop digging.iTraderOriginally posted by BrassCaseI only buy fireworks from Three Finger Willie over at One Eyed Jack's Fireworks.

I have a kimber and it works great with high velocity ammo. It’s a bit finicky with low velocity stuff.my Benitez goes to 11Comment

I have had 2 Beretta Ciener kits over the years. I still have one and it's awesome. The Beretta (BUSA) kit is fancier, but much more expensive. They could bring back those kits and make a killing....
And you are right - there are 2 1911 kits for sale.

The Kimber conversion is pretty good. The only thing it lacks is last round holdopen.I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!Comment

I spoke to the Marvel people. The good thing with that one is you can replace the spring to use lower velocity 22. I did not see the apocalypse coming so did not stock up on minimags or high velocity stuff. I have lots of the run of the mill stuff. That said what about the armscor one ( since it is not as pricey )Comment

22lr conversion for 1911
The Kimber mags do not lift the slide stop. The Kimber conversion slide will hold open on the last round if you use mags that lift the slide stop (I use GSG mags).
Holding the slide open after the last round will begin to wear on the notch in the slide. This is mostly cosmetic, but Kimber likes their guns to be pretty.
For cheap kits, the Kimber kit works well. It is roughly finished out of the box and needs more break in than the nicer kits. I got mine at one of the Turners sales which made it a little more worthwhile.Last edited by Ruber; 03-12-2021, 11:16 AM.Comment

My son and I both have the Kimber kits, they work fine with high speed ammo like Mini-Mags, I don't really miss the lack of a hold open on the last round.sigpic
