    Federal Champion Blue Box

I was out plinking with some of my 22's last saturday. I've got enough 22 ammo that I'm fine burning some off for fun. I cracked into a blue box of Federal bulk 22 (Champion's I think). Man, that stuff is garbage. I shot some through my single six, and every round was a different power level. Then I tried running some through my lcrx 3", tons of failure to fires (never, ever have I had that happen with that gun before). The weird thing is, I've shot that ammo a bunch in the past, hell, I can't tell you how many boxes I have on hand, I'd just buy it when it was on sale, and I've been doing that for over 20 years. So I've got a lot. Maybe just a bad batch, but, I've never seen a box that defective.

Recently had the same problem with Winchester bulk 333 pack. I have a few of the blue box Fed that I haven’t shot, I guess I’ll see at some point if it’s the same lot. The one bulk 22lr ammo that never seems to give me any problems is Remington Thunderbolts.

I randomly bought a box of winchester super x in a silver box, I'd never run that stuff before, but my lgs had a box sitting on the shelf before the panic. That stuff has been awesome, damn near as good as cci.

I got an 1,100 round pack of Federal "Black Box" last year, 38-grain CPHP, I was surprised it is consistent and accurate at 100-yards.

The old blue box was great but anything made in the last two decades has a reputation for many misfires.

I have a few of the range pack blue boxes. Not had any issues with mine, and seem to be pretty accurate and consistent for me. Got these last year. They have run fine in all of my 22s so far, but have only shot a few 100.

I have had issues with the Winchester bulk 333 round ammo with several failing to fire. Thunderbolts have been pretty crappy, too - and dirty. It blew out the extractor in a Remington 597 rifle due to high pressure. Federal bulk rimfire ammo has always worked well as has Remington golden bullet HPs.

This Federal Black Pack was a good price before the covid crazy. It had to be brand new production as it is the shiniest brass of bulk 22 I've ever bought. Runs great in my AR22s. Wish I had bought another box or two now.

That is what I ended up doing with it. The failures to fire were in a Henry lever action. I just use the Winchester bulk ammo in my Ruger Single-Six or H&R Sportsman revolvers.

I would not buy any Winchester ammo whatsoever..It is all junk..Even the Centerfire and Shotgun.

The blue box Federal works great for plinking though.

What a nitwit. Yes, of course you are correct, Win AA Target Loads are "junk".
