    Looks and sounds like a squib,rare in a rimfire ,

      That probably wasnt the offending case. That one just looks like a fired case that didnt eject and tried to feed back into the chamber and got deformed. Sounds like a round that was overcharged or fired out of battery and the case ruptured.

            Sounds like round has fired out of battery. Usually it blows rim apart. I would take the gun apart and clean it, especially front of the chamber, check for carbon buildup, front of the bolt, check for any build up, and firing pin channel. I would also check firing pin and firing pin protrusion. Out of battery should not happen, but is actually not uncommon in .22 LR semi-autos.

            P.S. It is unlikely that casing in the photo had anything to do with it, damage to casing mouth is likely from ejection.
