Ran a P22 Target version for many years, thousands of rounds from ultra HV to 60 grain subsonics. Some FTF and those wouldn't fire in another pistol either so its the ammo not the gun. Very accurate. With 60 subsonic it drills as good as any and at pistol ranges there is no problem with bullet stability. The recoil with the 60 grainers is softer but with more push than the sharper slap of the light grain ultra HV rounds.

The slides are made out of Zamak so running them dry isn't advisable nor is just shooting them until the slide doesn't function and blaming the gun. While its a 22 cleaning is still important. I found using De-Oxit NP on the slide kept it operating smoothly and kept the slide velocity nice a fast so extractions were spot on. I never modded the pistol, it just keeps shooting. It s small pistol so if you have ham sized fists something else might work better. I run an extended mag base got insure I get a proper grip. For smaller handed people it should fit just fine and using proper control its reliable and fun to shoot.

Shoot it, clean it rinse and repeat. Limp wristing it does what all 22s do so teach your kid how to properly shoot a 22 pistol. Would I buy another? Yes. Have I? Yes.

Let Go of the Status Quo!

Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?

Think past your gun, it's the last resort, the first is your brain.

Defense is a losing proposition when time is on the side of the opponent. In the history of humanity, no defense has ever won against an enemy with time on their side.

I would pass on the P22 also. I do own a current production "Stainless"
PKS/S .22..Very solid little .22 and well built..Functions 100% reliable with the only two types of .22 I have ever shot in it..CCI Mini Mags and CCI Blazer.

Are they on the CA roster?

I've had good luck with mine. Guess I got one of the good ones.

My p22 has been really reliable with most sorts of ammo. I am aware of how bad a reputation it has but at least so far mine has been great, only thing I did when I bought it was to order the captured recoil spring and no real issues so far.

GSG are pretty sweet, but only last 300 rounds before needing good cleaning and well oiled.

I tried to like the P22 because if it’s great ergonomics but accuracy was horrible even after I figured out the reliability issue. Had two and sold them both.
