Ruger Mark III 22/45 barrel threading

Trying to find someone local (orange county) that does barrel threading. I'm looking to build a nice little race gun out of my Ruger Mark III 22/45 since I can't find a resonable price on an off roster Mark IV LITE. Any suggestions for someone that can do it?

Be aware, having a threaded barrel on a semi-auto pistol that accepts detachable magazines will likely render it an "assault weapon" and illegal in CA.

12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall
also mean any of the following:
        ***
        (4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a
detachable magazine and any one of the following:
        (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor,
        forward handgrip, or silencer.
        (B) A second handgrip.
        (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely
encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon
without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the
        barrel.
        (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location
        outside of the pistol grip.

          What he said.

Since there is no rimfire exemption to CA assault weapons laws for pistols, a semi-auto pistol that does not have a fixed magazine and has a threaded barrel is considered an assault weapon. [PC 30515(a)(4)(A)]

In order to be CA legal, before installing the barrel...

          Option A.
A 10 round magazine is permanently attached (weld/epoxy/rivet) in the pistol's grip.

          Option B.
A muzzle device is permanently attached to the barrel.
^Permanent methods of attachment include full-fusion gas or electric steel-seam welding, high-temperature (1100o F) silver soldering, or blind pinning with the pin head welded over.

          Option C.
The threads are removed from the barrel.

          Side note:
The 12000 series Penal Codes were recodified in 2010 and no longer legally referenced, since 01-01-2012. [PC 16000]

          Current appicable Penal Codes...

          Penal Code 30515
          (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, “assault weapon” also means any of the following:
          (4) A semiautomatic pistol that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following:
          (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
          (B) A second handgrip.
          (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning the bearer’s hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
          (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.
          (5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

Thats awesome! Yes, I was aware that it would likely have to be permanent. What would you charge? I'll supply the compensator from tandemkross.

I can't imagine a .22 generates enough gases to make a compensator useful, but it'll sure look cool.

I thought the same thing, but tandemkross has some nice videos showing the difference it makes. And yes, it looks cool!

Question regarding this..... so if you were able to find someone selling a Mark IV lite in California that's obviously not on roster, could you even purchase it? If yes, is it an assault weapon because they come stock with a threaded barrel.

A Ruger MKIV Lite with a threaded barrel is an AW regardless of the roster so it would not be legal to possess or sell in CA unless the magazine is fixed or something is done to eliminate the threads.

Perm attaching something over the threads makes it not effectively have threads anymore.
My mom lives in NV and also has a cabin in CA.
I perm attached a thread protector on her factory threaded barrel MkIV lite so it's legal to bring into CA.

A compliant gun such as that could legally be transferred in CA via PPT.

What's the point of a race gun if the mag is permanently attached?

Then you perm attach a muzzle device and convert it back to a detachable magazine.
