    BUYING LOCAL

With all the good reviews and postings on the S&W 617, I have decided to pick up one and to buy local in the Bay Area. I have seen these between 640.00 to 725.00 on the internet. What is a fair price for these revolver? and which shops would have them in stock at a fair price?

a fair price is what ever you feel the pistol is worth.

You mean, the maximum he's willing to pay. He could feel that it's worth zero dollars and zero cents, but he may be willing to pay considerably more in order to secure one of these fine revolvers for himself and prevent another buying from snagging it.

Finding one locally will be tough. First of all, there weren't many stores that carried this prior to the election. Then, with the post-election buying frenzy cleaning most stores out of all but the fugliest/strangest guns (the FiveseveN comes to mind, for its expensive ammo), AND the ammo shortage pushing gun owners who actually shoot frequently to .22LR, it'll be very hard to find one of these in stock at all.

I am in the SF area. I went looking on Monday at six shops and came up empty handed. I will be in the Sac area this weekend, so I will check out a few shops in the area.
