Scope for Winchester model 52

Ok I got lucky and picked up a model 52, bolt action magazine fed.

I am a bench shooter, from 50 to 100 yards

What brand and model of scope should I be looking for that will compliment
The weapon.



Budget is 500 tops.

Or if have something for sale let me know, in northern calif.

A classic would be a Lyman Super Target or an Untrnel (SP) Classic scopes for a classic rifle.

I also use Leupold scopes on both my sporter model and on my competition model. If you are going to shoot it on the bench, consider a 25 Power fixed Leupold Scope. This may be over your budget, but you won't regret using the scope.

Is this an older 52 or the newer Browning 52B remake from the 90's?

If older and not a sporter version I think an external adjustable scope would be right. You probably can't get a Unertl for $500.00 but you can probably get a Litschert 10X or 12X for about that much. I have one on a Winchester 75 and it does well out to 100 yds.

If going older but internal there are a fair number of Redfield 12X target scopes out there. Or Weaver 10X. Each has an Adjustable Objective.

I have the Browning 52B version and it carries a plain old Burris Fullfield II 4.5 to 14X with an about 52 AO front bell. I think it's a compromise between a hunting scope and target. Were I going for target only I'd go with a fixed Leupold.

The Leupold 2x7 rimfire is great, $200. The 3x9 33mm Freedom is even better with a front parallax turret. $300.

I put a Weaver T-36 with 1/16 dot on my 40-X for bench rest competition. Natchez Shooters Supplies has them for $540 to $570.
