Threaded stud Walther Model V, pre-WW2

I have a pre-WW2 .22LR Walther Model V that has some kind of threaded stud on the right side of the stock -see red arrow on attached picture- .
I know that this stud is original to the rifle. I have seen it on other Model V pictures.
What is the purpose of this stud ??
    Thank you for your help.

The hole under the bolt handle gives access to the trigger adjustment screw.
    So I'm told.
