    S&W 41 $939 at BassPro

BassPro website shows the 41 for $939.97 on sale. That's the cheapest price I've seen in a while. I have not contacted Rancho Cucamonga to see if they can sell it in CA. Just a fyi for anyone interested. Thanks.

They also have the S&W 63 for $549.97. That's cheap too.

The 41 can be sold in California, It is not on the roster. But it is exempt from the roster by way of the Olympic Target Pistol exemption.

That is a very good price. I think that I paid around $1200 for mine.

They are neat guns but there have been some quality issues with the new ones. The assemblers at Smith and Wesson are not as skilled as the ones in the past. If I had to do it all over again I would buy a used one from the 80's or earlier.

I paid $200 for mine. That was over 25 years ago. Bought it from a friend of a friend.

What a smoking deal! It's out of stock though. I paid somewhere in the 1500 including tax and transfer fee.

There are literally 3 guys at S&W that work on/ manufacture them, the same 3 guys that have been doing it for years...

If I had a penny for every time I heard "there have been some quality issues with the new ones" I would be as rich as Trump.

I find that really hard to believe. If they are they need to retire.

If you go to the Model 41 section of Rimfire Central you can see many examples of new 41s with issues. It is very predictable, someone goes on there asking questions about buying a 41, then a few months later they post about feeding issues with standard velocity target ammunition.

On my gun I had feeding and extraction issues right out of the box. After looking at the chamber with a bore scope I noticed several large gouges in the chamber, like the reamer broke during chambering. I sent it back to them and they replaced the barrel with a new one. When I got it back it still had feeding issues. Again, issue with the barrel. Several replacement parts later I finally have a good shooter but it took a lot of effort.

It is a great design but the current model is not made like the older guns.

I picked up my mid 70's manufactured one with a big stack of spare magazines for 800 bucks about 2 years ago. Great little pistol, and a great deal. I occasionally think about putting one of the long barrels on it.

If I was shopping for one, I'd be hard pressed to not jump on that price at BassPro.

Does anyone know a good SW 41 gunsmith in LA? Mine has feeding and extraction issue. ~10% failure rate with SV CCI. When it fails to feed, I fire and strike the empty chamber. The problem is most severe after gun is cleaned.

All factory produced guns are going to have issues "here and there." If there were that many issues people would stop buying them.

You're always going to find more "my gun is messed up" posts than not, most people only post when they have issues.

Rimfire target pistols are finicky with ammo. just because a box says "target" doesn't mean its a match grade quality target ammo. Most "cycling" issues can be traced to poor quality ammo, or guys that refuse to try more than one or two types to see what works best in their gun.

Will CCI HV damage SW 41? I think SV is too weak to break in the new recoil spring. It seems to me the slide takes more effort to cycle, much more than my Buckmark, which requires HV.
