22lr conversion bolt in a piston upper?

I would like to get a 22lr conversion bolt such as the one that spikes puts out, but I was wondering if it would work in a Piston upper such as a LWRC?

well 22lr kits work on blowback, not direct gas.....so all you would have to do on a piston upper is turn your piston to the non-working position to stop it from moving

the real question is why would you want to mess around with your $1500+ piston upper plus a $300 22lr conversion when you can get perfectly fine dedicated 22lr uppers for $550-650

plus a dedicated 22lr upper will have the correct twist for a 22lr bullet, 1:16, not 1:7-9 for 5.56 bullets

I just upgraded my dedicated .22 AR from a Model1Sales Heavy CAR (Great upper!) to a Tactical Solutions M4 (EXCELLENT upper!).

Dedicated is THE way to go.

I <3 dropping my 25rd mags with a real magazine release.

And to the OP: Yes, it should work just fine. The amount of gases exiting into the piston system from a .22LR probably won't even cycle it enough to cause problems.

      Please read the Calguns Wiki
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Sure you can use a .22 conversion in our Addax Gas Piston Uppers.

The Op-Rod is attached to the bolt carrier, so you can just pop out the bolt carrier with the op-rod and install the .22 conversion kit.

In other piston driven systems, just set the piston setting to 0 which is normally off.

There is not enough gas pressure to cycle the piston anyways, but it is never a bad idea to be on the safer side of things.

Just make sure to clean the barrel really well after shooting your .22.

FYI: Dedicated .22 uppers are a better choice, especially if you desire excellent and consistent accuracy.

Go with Spikes or Tac. Solutions .22 uppers.

        Hope this helps.

If your op rod is not attached to your carrier (like with the ARES GSR35), the length of your op rod will prevent the drop in conversion kit from going into battery.
It can be "fixed" by grinding away some metal away from the top of the drop in kit in front of the recoil spring stop pin.

I learned this one the hard way......
