If you're willing to step way up, I LOVE my Bushnell Elite 4200 8x32x40 on my Silhouette rig. It's in the 4-Star group in the above rag, and it's made in Japan's LOW factory, widely considered to produce the finest in Asian optics. In Silhouette, your scope needs to accommodate repeated elevation adjustments and will need to consistently repeat those adjustments. Precise target knobs are required.

Another solid recommendation would be a Weaver V16 or V24. Both are also made at the same LOW factory in Japan.

For a good, inexpensive scope, try the Nikon Prostaff Rimfire. You can get them for about $95 from Opticsplanet (and elsewhere). It's not tremendously powerful, but well worth the price.

It really depends on the use , I have a number of 22s . I have a target rifle that uses a fixed weaver t36 , I have a target pistol i shoot from the bench that has a bushnell 20x , I have hunting rifles that use anything from a fixed four power to bolts with a 3x9 variable . If it is a dual pupose target/hunting rifle I would use a weaver v-16 . Just remember that with rifle scopes if you buy a cheap one you will be going back to get a decent one , spend as much as you can afford and get some decent glass the first time around.

+1 for the Mueller APV; I have one on my 10/22. BSA also makes a good one.

Buy the most you can afford for the purposed you intend to use the rifle. Do not fall into a trap like many who buys a accurate rifle but mount a cheap blurry scope or vise a versa.

                      Mueller APV

I've got a Mueller APV on my precision 10/22 build and I have had absolutely no issues or problems with it. The extra power is nice when you need it, and you can't beat the price.
